Specialist Subjects
Specialists in the Early Years and Year 1
In the Early Years all our children have the opportunity to learn from our specialist team of teachers. Our P.E., Art and Performing Arts team join the children in their Learning Centres to share key skills with them, supporting them as they progress to their individual next steps. Our specialists also theme certain activities around our units of learning, for example About Me or Little Explorers.
Specialist subjects in Year 2 to Year 6 classes
Students in Primary classes enjoy a change in the learning environment and attend a different specialist class four days a week. Specialists use the UK curriculum with the addition of goals specific to Thailand and the Panyaden hands-on, student-centred and inquiry-based approach. The more visual and concrete nature of the specialists’ subjects provides an efficient Thai language immersion for our foreign students.

Student Support Services
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
The EAL program serves students from Grades K-11 who require additional language support to help them access the mainstream material. Students who require language support are identified in the admission process and referred for further assessment.
Learning both content and language is a formidable challenge, with specialised instruction in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) classes in the Secondary School.
EAL instruction at Panyaden International School is an integral part of each grade level from Kindergarten to Year 11 and supports a sheltered immersion model. In this model of teaching and learning, language specialists work alongside classroom teachers and content specialists to deliver a curriculum that is accessible to all language learners.
The EAL Program:
- Is flexible and responsive to individual student needs
- Provides opportunities for learners to acquire the language skills needed for success
- Allows students to engage with academic content
- Encourages students to engage with their peers in authentic and meaningful contexts
- Ensures that all students have access to the curriculum
To be accepted into the programme, students are expected to meet the Panyaden admission and minimum language competency requirements for their specific year level.
Learning Support
At Panyaden we believe in inclusion. We aim to serve the international community and strive to support and educate all members of that community regardless of ability. We accept students with learning differences, as long as we are confident in our ability to meet their needs. As we take a collaborative approach to meeting the needs of our learning support students, our classroom teachers work alongside our learning support teachers, teaching assistants and specialist teachers in order to best support our students.
Each candidate is considered on an individual basis. The decision to admit a student with special educational needs is made by the Admissions team, Learning Support teacher and the School Principal. Any student who is applying for admission and has documented learning needs will receive special consideration. The School reserves the right to refuse applications where the student appears to have needs that cannot be met by our current programme.
Counselling
School Counselling aims at fostering students’ social, emotional and personal growth at each stage of their development, along with essential learning in school.
It is achieved by providing individual consultation and counselling, classroom guidance, assessment and crisis intervention, as well as by providing support for both teachers and parents. Our counsellor maintains an open-door policy and is often able to accommodate individuals on a drop-in basis.
Thank you for your interest in our Specialist Subjects. We openly welcome all enquiries from interested families throughout the year, so please feel free to contact us for more information, or to arrange a visit to Panyaden please apply for a school tour.
